The effective and pollution free alternative
With the microwave engineering there is a pollution free and economical technology available in the fight against mould, fungi and infesting insect wood pests, which combats ecologically, completely without chemicals. It is the innovative alternative to meanwhile partially doubtful chemical treatments.

Efficiency by heat
Microwaves change their energy completely and exclusively into heat. They work inside the strucked timbers and eradicate pests reliably and fast. This differentiates our procedure from other thermo-processes, where the heat transportation over the surfaces takes effect only slowly and is reason for the special efficiency in the fight against damage-causing wood pests by microwaves.

Well-tried and well-found
The use of microwaves against infesting insects wood pests is practically and scientifically established. In a research project (Az. 20232-45) promoted by the DBU in co-operation with the federal research institute for forest and timber economy (BFH), Institute for wood biology and wood preservation as well as the Westphalian open air museum (WFM) Detmold the effectiveness, environmental compatibility and health safety of the procedure were proven. (Appropriate documentations will be sent on request.)

Together with Dr. Uwe Noldt (BFH) and Dr. Hubertus Michels (WFM Detmold) microwave tests were accomplished with timbers considering different parameters such as wood moisture, cross section, old /new timber and graduation of damage. As result the effectiveness of the microwave treatment against wood pests was confirmed.

By the way: pest control by microwaves takes place in the absolutely harmless frequency range (2.45 GHz) of electromagnetic waves. Without after-effects when switched off. It is like a light switch: After switching off the light it is dark immediately.

What happens exactly? The physics of the „combat strategy“
Fighting against wood pests the microwave technology takes advantage of completely simple laws of physics.

The method with depth effect
Each building material contains humidity. Meeting water molecules contained in the wood, microwaves start to oscillate and in direct contact with the wood convert their energy by friction into heat. Thus the entire beam is warmed up and parasites are eradicated effectively. In case of double-sided heating even a squaring effect results.
To avoid excessive thermal tensions and heat losses the objects are insulated with hard or PU foam.

The secret of the absorption
The absorption capacity of a material, means the ability to convert microwave´s energy into heat, can be brought on a simple formula:

The absorption capacity decreases by rising temperature. Therefore an optimal temperature level must be achieved and held for successful pest control. This is appropriate with approx. 70°C – 75 °C clearly above the necessary minimum temperature of 55°C (DIN 68800) and below the boiling point of water.

Our microwave devices solve this requirement in an elegant way: They work with the slot waveguide, developed by us (Patent pending) and the microwaves are distributed nearly linear at the object. Another advantage of this slot aerial is, that it is not sensitive to reflections, contrary to dot oscillating working devices like an horn-antenna, which reduce the life span of the components strongly. Moreover so-called Hot Spots, regional focussing of microwaves with the risk of local overheating, can be avoided in a high degree by our slot antenna.

The construction of our system reliably provides an even heating and the minimization of the potential of danger. Thus for example nails or other metal parts in the wood are not warmed up more than their environment, so that risk of fire becomes nearly impossible.

Prooved and certified safety
For your safety we have examined our system by the VDE Test- and Certification Institute constantly. With clear result: Our devices correspond to the specified limit values and safety requirements by the general professional association. By appropriate use (health) endangerment of users is impossible.

We provide trainings
The operating with open microwave devices is only allowed to instructed persons. An annual training is prescribed. For our "DO-IT-YOURSELF"-customers, who will rent our devices to accomplish treatments by themselves, we offer detailed training courses, with which the different measures and possibilities are trained in practice.

Simple and save application

The user-friendly, mobile and handy devices can be aligned simply to the infested ranges and shifted manually or automatically. Both exposed beams and immured heads of beams can be treated.

For surface treatments as for example parquett or wooden floors the devices work automatically with an integrated temperature control and motor drive.

Duration of treatment
The duration of treatment varies depending upon length, thickness and kind of wood of a beam or the size of the room area at parquet treatments. Besides it depends on different environmental factors and must be determined individually. Permanent temperature measurements by special sensors during application provide the correct impact time and optimal quality control.
